Phases of Shakti Dance
Shakti Dance consists of different phases that combine to cleanse and awaken the pranic body, that the practitioner can access and enjoy the Spirit of Shakti:
1. Tuning in
It opens the class with a mantra accompanied by a mudra. It centres and prepares the mind, creating the necessary connection to receive the teachings.
2. Shakti Stretching
Rhythmic and meditative floor exercises, flowing in coordination with the breath. This phase warms up,increases flexibility, relaxes and opens energy channels in the body.
3. Standing Exercises and Trance Sequences
Energising exercises and dance sequences, opening the chakras with rhythmic and breath-coordinated movement. Physical awareness is heightened through the acquisition of universal principles of free-flowing movement. This phase in particular recharges vitality.
4. Free Dance
Taking inspiration from the previous phases, the inherent creative impulse is given free reign to express itself. With increased awareness of the energetic body (aura), a fluid interaction between ineer and outer spaces is explored and enjoyed.
5. Relaxation
The rhythmic pulsation of mind, body and spirit is allowed to integrate while releasing tensions.
6. Mantric Choreography
Choreographies to mantric music are danced in geometric group formation. Self-repeating sequences stimulate the meditative mind and help realign both individual and group energy.
7. Meditation
A moment is taken to return to the stillness within, to enjoy the fulfillment of emptiness following the satisfaction of self-expression. This is a chance to bathe in the regenerative space of the Source within.
8. Closing
Inner and outer worlds, are brought into balance while a protective auric shield is created around each participant.
Aims of Shakti Dance
To develop and promote grace, health and joy
To expand awareness and extend movement ranges for greater freedom in self-expression
To awaken the body and mind to universal movement principles of spirit
To stimulate creativity and promote spiritual unfolding
The Dance of Life
The same principle of ‘rhythmic animating movement’ that is attributed to dance is inherent to the vibration of the universe and all life. Just as Creative Consciousness is supremely expressed through the act of creation, dance is one of the most expressive
forms of human activity through which the impulse of the soul can manifest. This simple yet profound truth is symbolized in Hindu cosmology by ‘Shiva Nataraja’ which literally means ‘Shiva Lord of the Dance’. Shiva performs the ‘tandava’ which is the dance in which the universe is created, maintained and resolved. His dance is Shakti. Together the ‘dancer and the dance’ become the ‘lover and the beloved’. Out of the duality of Shiva and Shakti are born the three ‘gunas’. These are the three basic qualities of all life from which the entire universe is woven. They emerge from and influence the fundamental phenomenon of vibration (spanda). From them proceed the five fundamental frequencies or elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth), that give rise to all physical phenomena, our mind and our senses.
NEW IN YOGA/ YOGA OF DANCE?
The sessions adapt to the participants level and confidence level even if there is always a challenge to go through.
As a yoga teacher I communicate the principles of yoga so you can understand the connections that your body makes inside to move freely and safely; for this purpose we work with the asanas in flow and of course with the Bhandas, specific Pranayama techniques, Alignment, so that you move safely and can go deeper into the body awareness while doing this type of yoga.
The Shakti Dance that I offer:
- The Principles of Shakti Dance in its vastness
- Concretely I am focussed on being a witness of the Adi Shakti energy, I bow to her and work with her so the primal femenine energy can lead our steps on the Earth. This does not mean just women but the femenine energy that inhabits each of us, men, women and all beings.
- In the concrete body of a woman, our hips, the inner organs that inhabit this area of our body, are observed during the sessions, taken care, given the space that they need to be grounded on love and relaxed awareness, to reconnect with the primal energy, that is as well wild, sauvage, domesticable, creative in essence, precise and expansive, able to direct and go to the core as an arrow is thrown and reaches the apple in the core.
-Voice work and connection of VOICE with BODY organs or a part of the body, so the release of tensions and memories flows smoothly
- Nutrition tips if there is the need and the question are well provided since my colleague Ana Mulero (Ambrosía Barcelona director) is a Technitian in Energetic food.
- Hindu mithology: the stories, legends of the goddesses, are exceptional tools for us to better dive into the world of myths, which are the roots for a human understanding of life.
